دعا الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترامب إلى المصالحة بعدما اقتحم مناصرون له مبنى الكابيتول في يوم الأربعاء وقاموا فيه بالتخريب والهتافات لمناصرتة مؤكّداً أنّه يريد انتقالاً سلساً للسلطة إلى إدارة خلفه الرئيس المنتخب جو بايدن.

وقال ترامب في مقطع فيديو نشره على حسابه في موقع تويتر إنّ "إدارة جديدة ستُنَصّب في 20 يناير. تركيزي الآن ينصبّ على ضمان انتقال هادئ ومنظّم وسلس للسلطة. هذه اللحظة تتطلّب تضميد الجراح والمصالحة". وأضاف أنّه ساخط إزاء أعمال العنف وانعدام القانون والفوضى التي ارتكبها أنصاره في مقرّ الكونغرس حيث قُتلت امرأة بالرصاص خلال صدامات دارت بينهم وبين قوات الأمن عندما اقتحموا الكابيتول لمنع المشرّعين من المصادقة على فوز بايدن بالرئاسة.
وقال ترامب مخاطباً مقتحمي الكابيتول إلى مَن ارتكبوا أعمال عنف أو تدمير أنتم لا تمثّلون بلدنا ولمن خالفوا القانون ستدفعون الثمن
